In my work I strive to achieve an artistic marriage of precise, archival-quality, printed images of original graphics with the fluidity of paint; to combine visual and physical texture.
My preferred method of producing subject matter is by scanning natural elements--such as flowers, shells, leaves, branches-- and altering them on the computer to appear more graphic. I then use my digital images to create compositions, which I either print over hand-painted or leafed papers, or on plain paper, over which other media is layered.
To be able to control the entire process, I purchased a wide-format printer, which I learned to operate myself. I discovered printing is another creative media. Images can be printed opaquely or translucently. Elements can be cropped. Slight variations can drastically alter results. Experimentation can be exhilarating; accidents provide new insights.
Plumline Studio offers scanning and printing services to other artists and photographers. Original artwork may be scanned for reproduction, or high resolution digital images can be provided. Prints are created on an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 using colorfast, Ultrachrome pigment inks, printed at 1440 dpi.
We offer an array of media--both papers and canvas--and can print up to 42" wide. Hand lamination is also available for additional protection.
